This was a return to my teenage reading years, revisiting the first book of the Dragonlance Chronicles. It had been long enough that I had forgotten many of the details, which made the story feel fresh again while still carrying that sense of familiarity. The world-building, the companions, and the unfolding quest reminded me why these books became such a staple of fantasy in the first place.
Listening to the audiobook brought a new dimension to the story. Paul Boehmer’s narration captured the tone well, giving each character a distinct voice and keeping the pace engaging. It’s not the kind of high literature that demands deep analysis, but it doesn’t need to be. At its heart, this is just a fun, classic fantasy tale—and sometimes that’s exactly what I’m looking for.
